Country Learning Hub for Immunisation Equity in Mali
Why a Country Learning Hub for Immunisation Equity in Mali?
Access to vaccination is a fundamental right for all children. Unfortunately, millions of children around the world are unvaccinated, especially in Low- and Middle-income Countries (LMICs).
To address this situation, GaneshAID and the Centre for Vaccine Development in Mali (CVD-Mali) work together, in response to the request from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to establish and coordinate the Mali Learning Hub for Immunisation Equity (Centre d’Apprentissage pour l’Equité en Vaccination, CAPEV), with the aim of reaching zero-dose children and forgotten communities.
The Learning Hub will provide systematic and robust monitoring and learning for the IRMMA (Identify – Reach – Monitor – Measure – Advocate) interventions by collaborating with the government, local academic institutions, and civil society organisations to maximise data use, learning, partner engagement, assessment of the current Zero-dose (ZD) situation, as well as develop and test appropriate mechanisms for reaching to the ZD children.
CAPEV objectives in Mali
Generate and synthesise learning on the barriers to reaching children to influence programme planning and tailored approaches to identify and reach ZD children and missed communities.
Strengthen the evidence base of effective approaches to identify and reach ZD children and missed communities by understanding what works and should be scaled up, and what does not work and to do so in a timely, iterative manner.
Improve metrics, measures, and methods to access and use data on a regular basis to improve reaching ZD children and missed communities.
GaneshAID’s Work
Partner Engagement
GaneshAID has been assisting Mali in setting up a long-term collaborative intelligence system to connect change agents for the continuous exchange of information and unlocking their innovations.
A specific collaborative platform, both physical and digital, will enable EPI to lead more productive collaboration sessions with more effort to innovate, making it possible to reach zero-dose and missed communities in Mali.
Partner mapping
Partner engagement plan development
Regular engagement activities of partners
Development of a country-led learning agenda
Study Protocols
In close collaboration with in-country partners and stakeholders, GaneshAID facilitates the development of study protocols for the following studies and assessments.
A country-level rapid assessment of interventions across the IRMMA framework
An Evidence Gap Map
Data collection to provide improved outcome measures
An implementation research study of intervention(s)
Learning Products
Mali’s Country Learning Hub will produce multiple learning products to increase knowledge and information distribution across the health system, ensuring informed decision-making processes are made to reach the zero-dose children and missed communities.

Monitoring and Learning Plan
GaneshAID will support co-designing the Monitoring and Learning Plan with the country’s EPI Team and all relevant partners. The plan focuses on monitoring the implementation of the project’s activities and their outcomes in improving stakeholder engagement, capacity, and evidence use.
It specifies how the stakeholder engagement activities, rapid assessment, improved outcome monitoring, implementation research, and learning projects are intended to influence those outcomes.
